Has Finham Road become a 'racetrack'?

Today, the Weekly News publishes a story about Finham Road which residents say is becoming 'like a speedway track'. Tony Sewell, who lives in the road, says: "It is horrendous the way they drive down here."
Do you agree with him? If so, add your name and a comment below. What measures should be taken to slow down the traffic? What about speed cameras or bumps?
If you don't think anything should be done, we'd also like to hear your views.

Why not put in some speed cameras? The county council should stop pussy-footing around and take some action.

As a resident of Finham Road, I agree with Mr Sewell, Finham Road has become like a race track, mainly because it is a cut through road, many years ago when Rawnsley Drive was first built, we were told that a barrier would be put up to stop the traffic coming down Finham Road, of course it never happened. There are many elderly people living at the top end who have to cross the road to catch the local bus, and have to take there lives in there hands.
I agree that the council should take some action before its too late.

I lived in Kenilworth for many years and to my knowledge with regards Finham Road it has not become a racetrack it has always been a racetrack since the road was joined by rawnsley drive,

As a person who uses the road quite often I have never seen people using it is a racetrack. It is impossible to do so, as cars are parked on both sides of the road. If people are braking suddenly it is due to not being able to see round the corners due to badly parked cars. In contrast there are many roads that are used as racetracks, Whitemoor Road as an example. It seems the residents just don;t want people using it!

The council will not take any action at all. There are several roads in Kenilworth that require some sort of traffic calming, but only because the roads are being used by people who are ignorant of the correct way to drive.
That aside, the council take the attitude that unless there has been a certain number of serious injuries and deaths at a location there will be nothing done.
Residents can easily identify problems where they live as they see drivers speeding and generally driving badly every day. The only way to deal with this is to take the registrations and description of these vehicles and record the time/date driver description and report their behaviour to the police.

in retrospect taking details of cars, drivers, time and date that they do something in the street where you live and then passing it onto the police is nothing but a waste of time, they wont act because everyone has a different interpritation of speeding and erratic driving, I know this first hand after complaining to the police on several occasions with times and dates of speeding cars in my street they have failed to do anything about it, and for the record my street is straight, narrow and has many kids in it.

What about the crossing in Castle road? The traffic just does not stop there at times! The police have caught many drivers speeding there - yet no traffic calming is in position due to the lack of apparent injuries. I have witnessed people speeding whilst on a mobile phone - brakes locking up to stop for someone halfway across that they haven't seen due to lack of care and attention. Why is nothing done? It's all about the money - that and it doesn't affect the right people!

Another speeder, cut me up on the INSIDE on the traffic by the A46 and the idiot did it on purpose, Red Rover 200 registration V***LOK
and when I find out where in Kenilworth he lives I will remind him of his ridiculous behaviour.

Hi Anon above. You are no doubt one of these that are in the habit of travelling in the outside lanes, who is of the oppinion that,"im not moving for anyone". I believe you are as responsible as these so called "racers" for appalling driving. As for badly parked cars, its great, because,it makes me,as a professional driver, drive with more awarness to sudden situations. If we all remembered our highway code, and drove to the conditions, then we would not need such measures to slow things down, and add to the tax payers expense. Just think,as you drive along,it could be a member of your family who is forced to cross between badly parked cars. Be aware of other road users, including pedestrians, who are road users too when they need to cross,or the impatient driver, who cant wait for you to consider the fact that you are infact driving in an overtaking lane, when,if he manages to undertake you,he must have had a clear lane,as you did not pull over. Best not to make such open threats, because he may find you,and throw you a copy of the highway code when he has read this,as you were both in the wrong.

I would be interested too know in a public forum why our elected MP as declinced/ignored 3 letters asking him too meet with residents of Finham Rd
secondly I would like to know who the anomymous female administrator at WDC is who quite firmly and rudely told me that "warwick District Council did not a)have the funds for promoting saver driving or saving a childs life b)had no intention of any calming scheme in finham and c) too stop wasting her important time

thirdly the councillor Mrs Pat ??? who as called at my house twice reguarding the home made signs would she be as kind to contact me so we can work on a legal petition as I have never had too write one before

forthly I can put every reg plate of every moron down on here would the police take that as an official compliant and drive down the road 3 days later in case the offender is still present

this as now got silly lets act before someone is killed please in a civilized country we should not need to be protesting to people in order too save a life it should be common sense by now so here too all the parents in your Q7s land rovers Jags scenics and too the chavs in your 206s fiestas clios etc if you are late be late or get up earlier or leave earlier unless you can really live with the thought that one day down finham rd and roads like this someone will be killed injured etc and it wont be us drivers in our safe little cans it might be my son jack 18months old or any of the 30+ children in this street alone so please from one human too all others out there slow down its less then 1/2 a mile if travelled at 20 not 30 it takes 45seconds longer is one life worth 45seconds of your life
