Concerns continue to be expressed about the project to make a greenway from Kenilworth to Berkswell. Last week, the KWN reported complaints from residents unhappy with the number of trees being cut down and claiming there had not been enough consultation. This week, horse riders complained they were being left out of the plans - and off signs marking the route. What do you think about this project? Is it good for Kenilworth or do you have concerns?

I don't think there is anything in my life that I care less about than this!
It would be good if there was any communication, the council comment that plans were available, but did they tell anyone? It is good to have a route for walking and cycling across the countryside , we need alot more of this, although if trees are felled, there should be planting to replace each one felled. Personally, there is a problem with sharing alongside horse riders, as the ground is made extremely uneven by the horses footfall, when this becomes rock hard in the summer it's like walking/cycling over cobbles and causes discomfort & twisted ankles! can there be a pathway that is split in some way?
Kenilworth News has seen a wide ranging articles and letters over the proposed extension to the Greenway, and debates as to whether a bridge or a Twocan, for pedestrians and cyclists should facilitate the crossing of a very busy road.
Last week we took a walk to explore the area around the proposed bridge, and saw first hand the work in progress. The work is progressing well and the majority of the trees appear to be seedlings within the original railway trackbed. I think a bridge will be a great benefit for all.
1. For walkers and cyclists any possibility of road accident will be eliminated.
2. For cars and lorries there will be no stopping or slowing down necessary, which would otherwise increase fuel consumption.
3. For local residents there will be less noise and fuel pollution, which would otherwise arise as vehicles stop and start.
Finally with an inspiring design, the bridge would signal the approach to a delightful town, and could be used to hang banners advertising events such as those arranged by the Lions and Round Table.
We look forward to using the new tract and hopefully be able to cycle and walk across the new bridge.
