Is the new greenway a mess?

Critics say the new Connect 2 greenway in Kenilworth is a 'total mess'. Some councillors say the route is being ruined and will only be suitable for cyclists, not walkers. The route runs from Kenilworth to Berkswell and will eventually link with Warwick University. Your views are welcome.

Are there too many bars in Kenilworth?

Abbey End could end up having 'more bars than Alcatraz', according to Kenilworth councillors. They were commenting on a decision to grant developers permission to encourage another bar into Abbey End. Councillors want to see more shops in the town rather than bars. What do you think? Should wood-burning stoves be allowed in Kenilworth?


Some Kenilworth residents have contacted the Weekly News complaining about people burning wood in what they say is a smokeless zone. Several readers have responded defending the practice - and one has claimed that a person is going round the town noting down which houses are emitting smoke. What do you think? Comments welcome.

This new sign has been unveiled at the entrance to Talisman Square, Kenilworth. The developers, Discovery Properties, have added the sign as part of the £25 million transformation that began in 2007. What do you think of it? Does it give Kenilworth town centre a lift? We welcome your comments.

The Kenilworth to Berkswell Greenway: New concerns


Concerns continue to be expressed about the project to make a greenway from Kenilworth to Berkswell. Last week, the KWN reported complaints from residents unhappy with the number of trees being cut down and claiming there had not been enough consultation. This week, horse riders complained they were being left out of the plans - and off signs marking the route. What do you think about this project? Is it good for Kenilworth or do you have concerns?

Will Kenilworth get a new railway station soon?


Kenilworth could have its own railway station by 2012, the Weekly News reports this week. Interest from train company Arriva Transport Wales has prompted renewed interest in the project which has been discussed for many years. The link would run from Aberystwyth to Shrewbury, Birmingham and on to London Marylebone, but could stop at Kenilworth. Do you think this would ever happen? Your comments are welcome.

Town councillors are urging more people to do their weekly shop in Kenilworth. They say they know many people who go out of the town to do their shopping. Has Finham Road become a 'racetrack'?


Today, the Weekly News publishes a story about Finham Road which residents say is becoming 'like a speedway track'. Tony Sewell, who lives in the road, says: "It is horrendous the way they drive down here."

Should the mere be re-flooded?

Plans have been announced this week for the mere at Kenilworth Castle to be re-flooded. A councillor has said this would make Kenilworth the 'castle capital of the country'. This is an artist's impression of what it would look like.
